Troops

Troops defend your Town, attack other Lords' Towns, and yield resources in resource locations. They can also be sent as reinforcements to Castles and Towns.

To train troops, you need to build at least one Barracks. The more Barracks and the higher their level, the more warriors you can train simultaneously. The maximum number of warriors in training can be increased by conducting the corresponding Studies, as well as by upgrading the Hero's Skills and Inquisitor's Doctrines.

There are two ways to conduct troop training: instantly (by spending Gold) or over a period of time (in exchange for resources). To train tier VIII warriors, you will also need Trophies of Arms.

You can speed up the training process by using special Boosts and speed-ups, conducting Studies, and upgrading your Hero's Skills and Inquisitor's Doctrines.

There are five main types of troop:

  • Spearmen
  • Ranged
  • Knights
  • Cavalry
  • Siege

Each type has its own strengths and weaknesses. Take them into account to form the most effective troop for fighting a certain enemy.

In addition, there is a special type of troop – scouts. These can be sent to enemy Towns, resource locations, and Castles to get information about their resources, troop headcount and characteristics, Hero, and Inquisitor.

Selecting the icon of any warrior in the Barracks will open an info window where you can view their characteristics: their tier and troop type, upkeep cost, training time, speed, and capacity, as well as their offense, defense, and health stats.

  • Offense – the number of units the warrior will take off their opponent's defense and health
  • Defense – the number of units of enemy offense the warrior can withstand before they begin to lose health
  • Health – the number of units of offense the warrior can withstand before they die, once their defense has been nullified

All troops consume a certain amount of Food per hour. The specific amount is displayed in the warrior info window. If food consumption exceeds production, the resource icon will turn red, though the troops will remain unaffected.

To increase the military stats of your warriors, conduct Studies in the Academy, upgrade the Hero's Skills and Inquisitor's Doctrines, craft equipment in the Workshop and enhance it with jewels and runes, and also utilise bonuses provided by the VIP status, Townscapes, and the Alchemical Laboratory.

To dismiss your troops, enter the Council Hall, go to the "In the Town" tab, and hit the icon with the image of the warrior. In the window that appears, select the number of warriors and hit the "Dismiss" button.

Upgrading troops

The stats of all troop types can be upgraded in the Alchemical Laboratory. To construct this building, you need to have a Palace of level 12 or higher.

The upgrade cost is initially the same for all troop types (spearmen, cavalry, ranged, knights, siege, and scouts). When one troop type is upgraded, the cost for the other troop types is increased by one level.

For example, let's say you upgrade your knights. The cost for the other troop types will be increased to level 2. If you then upgrade your spearmen after that, the cost for the remaining troop types will be raised to level 3. And so on.

Think carefully about which troops to select first: upgrading them will be significantly cheaper.

The higher the cost of the upgrade, the more Power and Hero's and Inquisitor's Experience each new upgrade will bring you.

By increasing the Alchemical Laboratory's level, you will be able to upgrade troops of a higher tier.
